The Uitmarkt is the largest annual festival in the country, officially launching the new cultural season by showcasing music, art, theater, dance, opera, literature and cabaret performances. 2,000 performers on 30 Amsterdam venues. What’s more, it’s all free!
Basically, this is a kick off of the 2014-2015 season. All acts which are already booked are showcasing their concerts here during this 3-day festival. It’s a little prevue of the coming season. And better yet it’s FREE! What’s really cool to me is, as a local, it’s a great way to check out some acts I’d have never considered and later on can check out the full show.
I’ve seen some really fantastic music at this event. Honestly, I’ve seen some lousy acts too but hey, it’s FREE (did I mention that) and it’s a great way to spend the afternoon.
You can easily find the event at the Museumplein (museum square) and they have a map of all the venues/stages and acts.
