Tales and Spirits is a relatively new place on the Amsterdam food scene and it’s certainly not for any travelers on a budget but if you like GREAT food and fantastic drinks then you should check this place out. They don’t serve meals but rather many small dishes and it’s recommended – if you are with a few persons- to get a bunch of the items and perhaps share a few between you.
I went with a single friend and we order about 7 dishes in total and ate our hearts out. Everything which was served had fantastic flavor and done with the utmost care but I was partial to the Grilled Beef Shoulder- pictured.
Although we did not imbibe on the cocktail menu we had a look and I’d say it’s one of the few places in town with decent cocktails with extensive choice in drinks.
Reservation are recommended and are usually booked up for the weekend. You can always walk-in and have a seat at the bar but it’s a first come first serve basis. It’s open Tuesday- Saturday from 530pm.
When you eat here expect to pay at least 50€ a person depending on how much you eat and drink. Eating out in Amsterdam is expensive but if you’re looking for a nice night out with top quality food and drink then I think this is your place.
Perfect location to boot; on a small side street off the Singel and not too far from central station.
