10:00 am - 1:30 pm
All one need do is cycle about 20 minuets and quickly you’ll reach the waterlands, country-side just north of Amsterdam. Soon it’s cows and signs offering up farmer’s freshly made ice-cream.
Because the Netherlands is relatively flat one does not be need to be in top shape to partake. Even so, we’ll roughly 25Km and if you are not use to riding you may feel it a bit the following day.
We’ll make our way to the back side of Central Station where we’ll find a Free ferry boat to take us across the bay ‘t IJ into Noord (north) Amsterdam. We’ll discuss water and land management, see an old school windmill, discuss why the Dutch are so bike crazed and how they used these paths during the second world war in search of goods. There will be plenty of photo opportunities along the way. Ideally we’ll be back at the bike shop within 3-3,5 hours. Since we’ll spend most of our time outside the cities the stress of biking in Amsterdam will be minimized.
Meet at the Wheel Good Bike shop: Oudezijds Armsteeg 22; 1012GP Amsterdam.
