De Drie Graefjes – cafe

De Drie Graefjes calls itself an American Bakery and it’s true it has fantastic cakes and pie but the food and coffee are equally deserving of your attention. I stayed away from this place for a while given its location so near center Amsterdam, but when I finally popped in I’ve been converted. Although the center of Amsterdam is still littered with restaurants and cafes undeserving of your attention, in the last few years it’s really upped its game, so to speak.

It’s more of a breakfast/lunch destination or perhaps even a quick sit-down quality coffee and oversized cookie. It closes by 630pm in the evening. I tend to go to the one just off Dam Square vs. further up the Rokin but that’s only because of my location and I’m sure both offer fantastic service.
