Albert Cuyp – Street Market

The Albert Cuyp is one of many street markets that Amsterdam has to offer. Because it’s situated a little to the South it’s not always a place tourists go when in town. It is, however, only a 10 minuet walk from things like MuseumSquare and the Heineken Experience.

It’s open 6 days a week Mon-Sat and functionally most stalls are there from 1030am-4pm… before and after that time people will be setting up and/ casually tearing down. Meaning you CAN still get things upwards of 5pm but items have been picked through and some of the best stuff often gone.

The market is a goods and a food stall market, so a little something for everyone. It’s also a great place to get affordable cheesy souvenirs. For instance my favorite non-food gift to give friends are slippers which look a lot like the traditional Dutch clogs. You laugh, but as soon as you slip your feet in them you instantly feel satisfied. They make a great house slipper when lounging around on a lazy sunday. Most souvenir shops sell these clogs for 15-20€ but the AC Market is about half that.

Beyond that you’ll find lots of little odds and ends at the various stalls and given it flea market prices in general are greatly reduced.
